NOTD: Yellow Crackle

Nail of the day: I bought a Barry M polish in Lemon Icing, popped in on my nails and it was so bright! I was expecting a pastel colour and was a tad surprised by the intensity of the colour so I put a Barry M Crackle on top to take away from the colour a bit, and I loved the result :). Looked edgy and interesting, I got plenty of compliments on them. xx

Charity shop love !

Having had this blog for about a month now I've realised it hasn't been living up to it's name! It's been pretty much 100% polish and not so much fashion, which doesn't really make sense because I love the two equally! Therefore, I thought I'd start on a subject very close to my heart, charity shops! I love charity shops so much! They are pretty much the perfect location for a girl like myself. Cheap, unique, and you feel amazing after finding an awesome piece! Which brings me to the point of this article, my gorgeous lace top!

It's got a lovely scalloped edge with fine sequins sewn on the bottom and I love it's simple classic shape. I put a white cami on underneath and I got loads of compliments! Best of all, I paid £3 for this beauty - YAYYY!
So hit your local charity shops everyone, you never know what you'll find there xx

Review : Topshop Polish!

Topshop "Cut the Mustard"

Topshop "Domestic Goddess"

As you do on a rainy saturday in Lancaster, we took a trip to the Trafford Centre in Manchester with the girls and the boyfriend! It was sooo busy, obviously not a good idea to go to a massive shopping mall on a gloomy saturday a couple of weeks before Christmas! It was gorgeous though, very festive and happy. Got to see a naked crazy man dipping himself in a fountain and Stuart from "Hot Like Us" on BBC3 (if you are tragic enough to watch that show), topless and in Santa trousers, ay-ay! As I was buying loads of xmas pressies for everyone I couldn't afford to buying loads for myself, however I did buy myself some polish from Topshop as a special treat (my local Topshop doesn't have a makeup section - bad times.). These were my first polishes from Topshop and obviously I have to pop them on as soon as I got home!

I must say, I lurveeee them! They are very opaque with one coat and dry very quickly. Since I just applied them I can't tell you if they chip or not but to be honest they don't seem like they will chip quickly. The range of colours are amazing and unique, I literally couldn't choose! Only downside is the price, at £5 a polish they aren't cheap for the amount of product you get

Anyway, all in all I highly recommend these polishes, they come in loads of beautiful colours and I think you get what you pay for!

Have a lovely evening xx

Nails : Crazy Leopard Print

OPI Hopelessly in Love

OPI Barefoot in Barcelona

Black Striper

This is such an amazing manicure to wear! Really quite simple, but so effective! I had people asking me all day if I was wearing foils, and I must admit I was very proud every time I told them no and that I did them myself :). Try them out, spend that extra time on the manicure and feel amazing about your nails! xx

Modern French : Grey Contrast

Barry M - Grey

Rimmel Pro - Matte Finish topcoat

OPI mini polish - Unknown

A modern twist on a classic manicure. For this look paint your paints until they are opaque, brush a matte topcoat over them and finish off with a couple of swipes of a contrasting colour, a glitter polish or even the same colour for a monochrome effect! Right, off to finish my essay now, have a lovely day everyone x

How to : Newspaper Nails

Models Own : Nude Beige

Over the past couple of days I've been wearing this amazing manicure, newspaper nails! In case you haven't heard of it, it's basically polish with newspaper print transfered onto it. I got loads of questions off of my friends asking me how to do them, so I decided to do a step by step for you using my dear friend Lexi (who was more than up for a fab manicure!)

So, you'll need a nail polish (or several) or your choice. Lighter colours obviously work better because you can actually see the ink! You'll also need some vodka (or 70% rubbing alcohol) and 10 newspaper squares, slightly bigger than your nail. The words on the paper don't matter as they will be backwards anyway! Finally you'll need a little pot or lid that you can dunk your finger into!

So pretty standard, paint your nails your chosen colour(s) so they are opaque (2 or 3 coats) and wait until they are dry to the touch!

Then pour a little vodka or rubbing alcohol into the pot and dip the painted nail in for about 20/30 seconds.

Then quickly take the soaked nail out, put in on a flat surface and press a newspaper square onto it (the print facing down). Use your finger in a rolling motion to ensure all the nail has ink on it! Do this for about 10 seconds!

Gently peel the newspaper off, and voilĂ ! A lovely newspapered nail! From here it's pretty simple, just repeat the process 9 more times!

When you're done just take a cotton bud soaked in nail polish remover and clean up any messes, either nail polish or extra ink that has stained your skin, it'll come right off!

Now just let the ink dry for about 10 minutes, and finish off with a top coat to add shine and to lock that ink in!

TADAAAA! You're done! Your nails will have everyone talking!

Hope you enjoyed this DIY, there will be more to come! xxx

A manicure and an introduction

Models own - Champagne
Barry M - Red Glitter

I've always found introducing yourself fairly hard. How can you sum up your whole personality in a couple of minutes? Well, I personally don't think you can, so consider this post a snippet of information. Hopefully if you decide to follow my little blog you'll get to know me as I post more and more!

My name's Becky, and as you can probably tell from the title of this blog I love anything fashion. I also adore nail polish and nail art, beauty and skincare, ohhhh how I love skincare! I wanted to start a blog to meet like minded people, because as much as I love my mates they don't quite understand how I can get quite so excited about a new nail polish, a gorgeous top from a charity shop that was an absolute steal or even how I can go into Boots or Superdrug and spend my weekly allowance in under 10 minutes. I'm sure most of you reading this can relate!

I'm a first year student at Lancaster University, studying Marketing and Design. I would love to work in fashion one day, either designing, selling, buying or promoting. Basically, as long as I'm surrounded by clothes, shoes and accessories I'll be happy!

That's about all that comes to mind at the moment, please don't hesite to follow or comment, I'd really appreciate it! I have many more manicures to show you, as well as some hauls, some OOTDs, some reviews..... . I hope this will be the beginning of a great adventure x
